Threat to Uchral’s Cabinet Grows Ahead of 2027 Mongolia Presidential Election

Mongolia’s opposition Democratic Party is preparing to table a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Nyam-Osoryn Uchral when parliament reconvenes in September.

The opposition says it has gathered 41 signatures, but removing the cabinet would require 64 votes from MPs present and voting.

With the ruling Mongolian People’s Party holding 68 seats, the opposition would need roughly 23 MPP lawmakers to cross that threshold. Its strategy is therefore less about defeating Mr Uchral than exposing the ruling party’s internal divisions.
