Former Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene in a recent TV interview framed his departure in 2025 was a calculated political ouster involving the president. He also warns the president's office is orchestrating a silent executive coup weakening parliamentary powers.
While the reason for his dismissal in June 2025 was a lost vote of confidence following protests over his son’s lifestyle and corruption allegations, Oyun-Erdene’s personal narrative is much more pointed toward President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh.

President Khurelsukh paved the way for Oyun-Erdene's rise within the ruling party in the past decade.
Oyun-Erdene insists the friction is structural, not strictly personal. For three decades, Mongolia's semi-presidential governance system has bred deep instability.
It inevitably pits a president and a prime minister against each other in a fierce competition for political survival and resources.
Oyun-Erdene alleges the current president dictates major policy through a shadow cabinet via the National Security Council.
He warns that the President's proposed law allowing for the recall of MPs for ethical violations is a weapon designed to intimidate the legislature.
