Mongolian Prime Minister Zandanshatar Faces a Spring Test With 2027 in Sight

With the Tsagaan Sar holidays over, the political choreography has resumed. The opposition Democratic Party says it has secured enough signatures to table a motion to dismiss Prime Minister Gombojavyn Zandanshatar when parliament reconvenes on March 15.

The move will generate noise. It is unlikely to generate a new government yet.
The numbers remain stubborn. The Mongolian People’s Party holds 68 of 126 seats. The DP controls 42. Even with smaller factions drifting, the opposition cannot conjure a majority.
