Submissions
Write for Mongolia Weekly

Mongolia Weekly invites submissions from contributors who can offer clear, original analysis on Mongolia’s political, economic, and social landscape. To help you prepare a strong piece, please review the following guidelines:

What We Look For
-
Insightful commentary that goes beyond headlines, drawing on structural trends, historical context, data, or comparative perspectives.
-
Op-eds of maximum 800 words written in clear, direct English and accessible to a general audience.
-
Strong arguments supported by evidence and hyperlinks to credible sources.
-
Writing that avoids academic scaffolding, jargon, and signposting such as “first, second, third” or “in this article I will.”
-
Analysis that explains why the issue matters now and what readers should take away.

Use of Visuals
-
Authors may include charts, infographics, photographs, or maps that strengthen the analysis.
-
Visuals must be high-resolution, copyright-safe, and accompanied by clear captions.
-
For charts, include underlying data or source links so our team can verify or recreate visuals in our house style.
-
Visuals should clarify the argument rather than act as decorative filler.

Editorial Process
-
Submissions may be reviewed by subject-matter specialists anonymously.
-
All accepted drafts are edited for clarity, precision, and house style before being returned for author approval.
-
Because the review process requires time and care, submissions must be exclusive to Mongolia Weekly while under consideration.

Who Should Submit
-
We welcome contributors at all experience levels, including those writing in English as a second language.
-
Our editors work closely with authors to ensure the final piece is polished and accessible.

Your piece must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

Please include a one-sentence author bio with your submission (institutional affiliation, research focus, or professional background).
